How to interpret the workspace

Market data & research methodology

TradeClever helps you screen stocks, inspect daily charts, compare market groups, and organize research. A result describes the data available to that workspace and session. The notes below explain how to interpret it.

Which securities and dates are covered?

The workspace includes covered stocks and ETFs. Coverage depends on the loaded universe, stored history, and fields available for each symbol; it is not a promise that every listed security is available. An ETF is identified as ETF in the Sector column. Other securities without a known sector appear as Unclassified.

Use the date, coverage, and feed status displayed beside the results. A screenshot on this website is an example of the interface, not a current market quote. The price history tool lets you inspect stored daily open, high, low, close, and volume observations.

Daily charts and delayed alerts

Charts use daily price history. The alert workflow evaluates delayed intraday observations when its monitoring service and required feed are available. A saved alert does not by itself establish that monitoring is ready. Check the alert center before relying on a notification.

The site does not describe these workspaces as a real-time execution feed. An earnings calendar provides available event dates; it does not establish an exact announcement time or provide earnings estimates and results.

What does a historical scan reconstruct?

Choose Scan as of to evaluate a query against stored history through an earlier session. Weekends and holidays resolve to a preceding available trading session. Inspect the actual session shown in the results, especially if a feed or symbol has missing bars.

Prices and history-backed indicators use observations through the selected session. Fields without historical metadata may use current values and are identified in the result. Current company classifications or universe membership cannot establish which companies belonged to a group at an earlier date. A dated screen should not be treated as a complete reconstruction of the historical investable universe.

Backtest results use available historical membership and later bars to calculate forward returns. They are not brokerage executions or a guarantee of future results. Read the historical scan guide before comparing dates.

Indicators, ranks, and missing observations

Indicators require enough price history for their lookback. A missing field or insufficient history stays unavailable; it is not equivalent to zero. All Time High refers to available stored history, which may not span a security’s lifetime.

SCTR uses sourced StockCharts observations for the requested scan date when available. TCTR, exposed as rsRank in queries, is TradeClever’s separate relative-strength rank. These labels refer to different measures and should not be substituted for one another. The CleverScan reference explains supported functions and operators.

Corporate actions can affect comparisons across dates. Use the corporate actions workspace to review available events and check the history used by your research. Event visibility alone is not proof that every historical series has been adjusted in the same way.

What does AI do in CleverScan?

AI converts a plain-English description into an editable CleverScan expression. The application checks the expression against its supported parser and validation rules. You can inspect the conditions, change them, and run the scan yourself.

A valid expression can still differ from your intended question. Review its fields, thresholds, grouping, and selected date. AI assistance drafts query logic; it does not predict returns, certify an investment, or place a brokerage order. You can also use manual filters or write supported query syntax directly.

A reproducible research check

  1. Write down the question and save the exact scan expression.
  2. Record the selected date, actual session, and current metadata notes.
  3. Inspect a matching symbol’s chart and the fields used by the rule.
  4. Review missing values and coverage before comparing results.
  5. Keep the scan logic with your observations when you share research.
