Create a watchlist you will use

Keep a focused set of stocks ready for your next research session.

Choose names for a clear reason and revisit that reason when you review the list.

Step 01

Start from a research question

Choose a small set of stocks related to what you want to study. The names may come from a screen, a sector view, or company research. A watchlist does not need to contain every interesting symbol; it should support a review you can complete.

Step 02

Add the selected symbols

Log in and use the watch action for a symbol to keep it in your account watchlist. Open Watchlist to review the names together. Confirm the security when similar tickers or company names could cause confusion.

Step 03

Use a consistent review order

Check available quote dates, open the chart, and compare the current picture with the question that put the name on your list. If an earnings date matters to your research, check the calendar and verify the date with the company.

Step 04

Remove names without a current purpose

Revisit why each stock is on the list. Remove names you no longer intend to study so the list stays useful. Keep a saved scan separately when you want to discover new symbols that fit a set of rules rather than follow a fixed set of companies.
