A saved scan keeps the rules. A watchlist keeps the names you choose.
Check the expression before saving
Run the scan and inspect a few results. Confirm that the conditions match your intended question and that the selected date is appropriate. Saving an expression is most useful once you understand how it includes and excludes symbols.
Use a descriptive name
Choose Save Expression and give the query a name that explains the rules or research purpose. Avoid names that imply guaranteed outcomes. A name such as “Large companies above SMA 50” is easier to interpret later than a vague label about winning stocks.
Restore and review
Use Presets & Saved Scans to reopen a saved expression. Check the active date before running it. Results can change when prices, coverage, or company metadata change. Keep the selection logic consistent if you want to compare observations from different sessions.
Separate discovery from follow-up
A scan finds symbols that currently fit its rules. A watchlist holds specific names you choose to revisit. Use both when helpful: rerun the scan for discovery and review the watchlist for ongoing company research, even when a name no longer matches the original screen.
